NIHAD ISLAM HAZARIKA CLINCHED THE TITLE
Nihad Islam Hazarika Clinched The Title in Sunday Rapid Chess Tournament. The Tournament was organized by Guwahati Chess Academy on 10th April, 2022 at Academy Premises in R G Baruah Road, Guwahati, Altogether 38 players including 10 International Rated Players participated in the tournament. The Tournament was held in swiss league system for 6 rounds. Top five position holders were awarded cash prizes. Pranab Kumar Nath conducted the tournament as Chief Arbiter and he was ably assisted by Kh Jintu Singh as deputy Arbiter.

Nihad scored 5.5 points from 6 rounds and remains unbeaten throughout the tournament. In the final round,he beat Abhirup Saikia and clinched the title.

Pran Gobinda Parashar Kashyap got second position by scoring 5 points. In the last round game he drew his game against Rayhaan Hussain.

Bharsita Saharia also scored 5 points but she was declared third on the basis of tie-break score. In the last round she beat Krishnav Mrinmoy Hazarika

Rayhaan Husain scored 4.5 points each and got fourth position. In the last round he held with higher rated Pran Gobinda Parashar Kashyap to creditable draw.

Promising Youngster Abhirup Saikia also scored 4.5 points each and got fifth position on the basis of tie-break score. Going into the last round, he had chance to win the tournament but his loss on the last round against Nihad Islam Hazarika put paid to his hope and had to contend in fifth position in the end.

Chaarvi Choudhury scored 4 points and got first position in under-13 category. Though she was expected to get higher position but her loss against Pran Gobinda Parashar Kashyap in the third round and the loss against Abhirup Saikia in the fifth round kept her away from top five position,

Shuvang Pran Kashyap also scored 4 points but he was declared second on the basis of tie-break score in under-13 category.

Kritartha Saikia got third position by scoring three points in under-13 category.

Sahaj Gupta, another promising youngster scored creditable 4.5 points and got first Position in under-11 category.

Nibhriti Goswami scored 4 points and got second position in Under-11 category.

Jagajit Sinha scored 3.5 points and got third position in under-11 category.

Rajat Bafna scored creditable 4.5 points and got first position in under-9 category.

Another future star of Assam Chess Krishnav Mrinmoy Hazarika scored 4 points and got second position in under-9 category.

Neehar Das scored 3 points and got third position in under-9 category.

Prachurjya Changmai got first position in under-7 category by scoring 3 points.

Dhanyata Goswami also scored 3 points in under-9 category but she was declared second on the basis of tie-break score

Dhirhan Goswami got third position in under-7 category with 2 points.
