On the occasion of 76th Independence Day, Guwahati Chess Academy organized a chess tournament on 15th August, 2022 at academy premises situated at R G Baruah Road, Guwahati.
Prakash Nath clinched the title in the tournament by scoring 6 points from 6 rounds.
Bharsita Saharia got second position by scoring 5 points from same number of rounds.
Rayhaan Hussain also scored 5 points but he was declared third on the basis of tie break score.
Chiranjib Goswami got first position in under-15 category by scoring 5 points
Priyush Pritam Mosorong second in this category. He scored 4 points.
Kaushik Medhi also scored 4 points but third in under-15 category on the basis of tie-break score.
Shuvang Pran Kashyap scored 4.5 points and got first position in under-13 category.
Shivam Dutta got second position in under-13 category by scoring 4 points.
Priyanuj Das also scored 4 points and but got third position in under-13 category on the basis of tie-break score.
Nibhriti Goswami scored 4 points and got first position in under-11 category.
Emil Borgohain also scored 4 points in this category but declared second on the basis of tie-break score.
Swapnil Kar scored 3.5 points and got third position in under-11 category.
Neehar Das got creditable 5 points and got first position in under-9 category.
Trinabh Kashyap scored 4 points and got second position in under-9 category.
Hriyan Kaushik Thakuria scored 3.5 points and got third position in under-9 category.
Prachurjya Changmai got first position in under-7 category. He scored 4 points.
Hreyansh Deka scored 3 points and got second position in under-7 category.
Parthiv Sankarsana also scored 3 points and he got third position in under-7 category.
The tournament was conducted for 6 rounds in swiss league system. Altogether 45 players including 4 fide rated players participated in the tournament. Fide Arbiter Pranab Kumar Nath conducted the tournament as Chief Arbiter and he was ably assisted by Bamcha Singh as deputy Arbiter. Winners were awarded trophy and certificate in the prize distribution ceremony.
