Mrinmoy, Abhash and Vivek hogged limelight on round 3
Day one belongs to youngster. Not one but as many as three upsets were caused in the third round of the first day. Youngster Mrinmoy Rajkhowa caused the biggest upset of the day on third round at All Assam Open Prizemoney Chess Tournament 2021 Doomdooma when he beat second seed Projit Phukan. Abhash Ramya Saikia held top seed and former Assam Champion Soram Rahul Singh to a creditable draw. Another youngster Vivek Rajkumar hold current Assam Champion Iftikar Alom Mazumdar to draw. Now Mrinmoy Rajkhowa is leading the field with 3 points along with Cheniram Pegu, Nilabhajyoti Barthakur, Deep Das and Biswajit Phukan. Top seed Rahul Singh, Assam Champion Iftiakr Alom Mazumdar, Nandika Sahu, Abhash Ramya Saikia and Vivek Rajkumar shares the next spot with 2.5 points.

The tournament is being held in a time control of 40 minutes with 10 second increment. Fourth round games will start at 10 am tomorrow. Mrinmoy will fight against Nilabhjyoti Barthakur in the top board.
